Biography

2003

The Beginning...

Diakhate was born from the ”ruins” of a band called Cryscythe in the end of the year 2003. After Mane, Paffa and Sakke had finally got out from military service they decided to form the old band together. The odd-minded trio had played together before the military service, but back then it was mainly just about having a good time and drinking “a few” beers.

But still, they lacked a decent place to practice. Well, Sakke knew a guy who had a place and he also could play guitar and keyboards so he was just what they needed. So, J.Sallinen joined the trio.

In the year 2004 we mostly just practiced and tried to find our own style and also we thru a couple of gigs. The gigs weren’t really that great though...

We continued our search for our own style thru the years 2004 and 2005, because we felt we were a bit lost music-wise, and we did an EP called Whisperian Pain at Pussinen’s. You can clearly hear from Whisperian Pain that the band was really trying to seek a style that they could call their own.

2005-2006

At the end of 2005 the motivation started growing and we started to take this thing more seriosly and we hit the studio to record our promo-CD, My Thing. The studio was Musamuusa and the producer was Kari Nieminen. On My Thing we had grown a bit from Whisperian Pain. The music was a bit more “our style”, but still you can hear from the two songs on that album that we still were a bit lost. But we learned a lot when recording My Thing. We learned a lot during those recordings. Stuff like, how to work in a studio and what we should focus on in the future.

For some reason in the spring of 2006 our motivation was lost again, so it was time to have a band meeting and discuss what everyone wanted. Does everyone have enough time and motivation to be in this band? What kind of music do we want to play? After a few arguments the decicion was made. Now everyone knew what the others want and the goals were set. So the band experienced a kind of “enlightment”. So we started to take more effort and we set clear goals and figured out how we’ll get there.

Our own style started to come together...

2006 was the year when we started to disguss about a new guitarist. Mane felt that he’d focus only on singin’, so we needed a new guitar player. Through an add in muusikoiden.net-website we we’re introduced to Sipe Erkinheimo.

2007

In the beginning of 2007, Sipe joined the band as the new guitarplayer. We through a few gigs, but mainly just trained. We also recorded a livedemo in Noisecamp with Artturi Laukkanen and Kari Nieminen. We talked about recording a new demo.

In the end of the summer of 2007 we decided to record a demo, including three songs: Hero of yesterday, Knife and Goddamn hero. The recordings were started in December. The working title was Underground Metal.

2008

In January, we thru a gig with Flatliner’s Guild in Dante’s Corner in Turku. It was awesome to get on stage after such a long time.

The recordings of Underground Metal went on and on and on. The goal was to get the record done till the february of 2008. But in the beginning of february, only the drum tracks were done...In the beginning of the summer, everything was recorded and mixing could begin. But the mixing wasn’t done till november.

One thing important happened during the mixing of Underground Metal, we had finally found our style. Finally we recorded an album, that everyone were proud of.

The name of the record was changed to Goddamn Hero when desining the covers with our long time one-man-road crew, Antti “roudari” Lundén.

Now, when the record is done, we’re ready kick your fucking ass!!!
